Diwan Mandir and Nanda Shrine

Diwan Mandir was established by Diwan Jwala Sahai (Nanda), Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir during the Dogra dynasty rule. Within it, there is a temple/ shrine of the Nandas. This contains a statue/ image of our Devi and also relics of Baba Pheru (link to be added) which the signboard refers to as Devta. Every year in April there is a Mel or get together of the Nanda community in Jammu for prayers, havan and propitiation of the clan deities, followed by lunch. The photos below are all of the mel in 2009 In recent years the number of visitors to the mel has been increasing and people from other near and distant towns also arrive. Note the old frescoes/murals on the walls which are unfortunately deteriorating. More information about this temple is given in this website at (links to be added). A similar mel held at Ranjan Jandial just outside Jammu annually in November/ December
