My father Maharaj Krishen Mehta was the eldest son of Gulzarilal Nanda. My father's mother's father Keval Krtshen Mehta had adopted my father (as an infant) - following the occasional practice of those times - because he did not beget a male child. Hence, my surname became Mehta.
The picture on the left shows:

The lower photo on the left shows my parents Kanta Mehta and Maharaj Krishen Mehta, Lakshmi Nanda and G.L. Nanda, at Maison Belvedere my parents flat in Bombay sometime between 1948 and 1952
My ancestors belonged to various Punjabi clans such as the Khatri Nandas and Mehtas on my father's side, and the Arora clans - Ahujas and Bagais, on my mother's side. I have chronicled their history with photographs, based on my travel and research all over India during interludes in the last 10 years.
My ancestors lived in:
Eminabad, Baddon ki Gosain and Sialkot in undivided west Punjab,
Bhatner/Hanumangarh in Rajasthan,
Poonch in Jammu & Kashmir,
Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan in undivided India and numerous other towns and villages in north western undivided India.
My key sources of information include the registers of genealogists located in pilgrimage places, word of mouth and libraries and archives all over north India.
